Quail Run Farm – Upcoming Event Update

Tuesday, October 16, 2018

Dear Potential Quail Run Farm Competitors,

We received 2” rain on Saturday,13th, however by Sunday our boarders were able to jump in the grass SJ arena as it drains so well and didn’t even leave footprints!

We are keeping a very close eye on the weather. There seems to be a significant chance of rain throughout the week and into next week!

At present the weather forecast is calling for dry on Sunday until evening. Our ground drains very well and I have modified the Cross Country Courses to avoid any jumps in the wettest areas. We could even do an extensive DERBY using the front fields.

We are often under what we call “The Bartonville Umbrella” whereby everyone gets rain but QRF!

My main concern is that those without indoor schooling facilities or boarding on Black Gumbo soil will be unable to ride all week and will not feel prepared to perform at their best?

We want everyone to have a safe and fun learning experience and certainly not ride in rain!

Please email me and let me know your thoughts! I would appreciate your feedback! jan@quailrunfarm.net

The only possible Rain Date that we could manage might be November 18 or 19th.

August 2018 Combined Test Report from Quail Run Farm

Dear Competitors and their support teams, Friends, Volunteers, Judges: Meghan and Stephanie, and to Kathi our secretary! Thank you for your support and for making it a fun show!

We were once more blessed with one of the coolest days in August! We were doubly blessed by the seven plus inches of rain received just before the show which made our footing perfect!

Congratulations, to Meghan Markham on her Judging Debut at QRF!  Meghan has been working hard at her judging clinics throughout this year. Meghan is a born instructor with a great “eye” and gave lots of helpful comments. I hope that you all read your dressage score sheets and learn from them!

Ashton Willnow won the Training division on her dressage score 33.6.

Emily Oaks won, not only the Novice Division, but also the lowest score of the day 25.5 on “Connell” their first show together after a long layoff. Her daughter Carsyn, 9 won the Pre BN Dressage division 34.5 on her wonderful old pony Pooka! The Dynamic Duo!

Beginner Novice was won by Cat McCall 29.8. We look forward to seeing you in Novice by next show!

Delaney Ryder won Pre BN on The Senator 35.3. This nice quiet young horse is FOR SALE!

Our Tadpole group all suddenly developed their “eventing legs” and chose to ride in the 2’ Jump Start Division. Jaimie Long on her adorable Gypsy Cob, pleaded with mother to be allowed to ride Jump Start and ended up winning the division with a 35.3. Bailey Jones was second. Well done Chamberlain Dressage, you CAN jump too!

Caeley Melmed received a 34.7 Dressage Only on her young and newly RESCUED horse Brelan and her daughter Marhri 10, competed him in the Intro test with a score of 40.3.  He is one lucky horse not to have ended up in Mexico!                       Congratulations to ALL!

Thank you all for competing; for some of you it was not your day! If however, you gained good experience then you are on your way to having a far better day next show! Remember to ENJOY the journey and feel blessed that you are able to ride, we are all so lucky!

We look forward to seeing you all at our Fall Horse Trials and CT Sunday, October 21
