QRF Update!

Dear riders, their Families, Friends and Volunteers,

We have been keeping a careful eye on the weather and it looks like we will have more rain before the weekend. It is supposed to be dry on Sunday! YEAH!

I have been dragging our cross country skid jumps around to make optimum use of well drained land. As you may know Marta Marks and Sharon Miesen both road XC in the pouring rain in our February Derby and remarked how good the footing was.

This weekend the Dressage will be on higher ground where the SJ course is usually set. The SJ will be on the very well drained field to the south of our house, near the Pecan Grove.  We moved the SJ Warm Up fences close to the SJ so that trainers can keep an eye on both dressage and SJ. The Cross Country now starts to the WEST of our house across from the drive. Warm Ups are in the horse pasture on high ground close by!

Our own riders were galloping around our front pasture this last week end and the going was perfect. We are blessed with SANDY LOAM soil which drains really well.

Please get your entries in to Kathi by Wednesday and pray for nice weather. If there is any concern about XC footing you are welcome to just ride a Combined Test. Ride times will be posted.

In the event of saturated ground on Saturday it may be necessary to RESTRICT XC SCHOOLING to those who are entered for the HORSE TRIALS! PLEASE check with us on website to see if the XC course will be open for schooling on Saturday.

Perhaps you can spread the word on Facebook!

March 22nd

Dear Riders, Competitors, Volunteers and Friends,

This wet winter surely can’t continue! Our lake is overflowing and our soil is good and wet but the hardy are still able to hack all over our property- I am no longer one of them! Thank you God for the well needed rain, please may we have a break!

USEA/USDF judge and TD Ana Schravesande, will be our Dressage Judge on Sunday and will run 30 minute Ride A Test lessons on Saturday. This gives riders a wonderful opportunity to find out what the judge is really looking for and drastically improve their score!

We will award beautiful Cotton Anti Sweat Coolers to the winners of any division with 6 riders or more! Ribbons 1-6 will be awarded in both Dressage and Horse Trial Divisions and also to those who forgot to pick up their ribbons at our February show after the rain started. Two riders, Marta Marks and Sharon Miesen both rode their Derby Course in the rain for the experience and had a great time doing so. Even though it had been raining for an hour or so the going was safe, they both told me.

Janet Taylor and Zarpazo Beat an all-time QRF Dressage Score Record with a Score of 19.6. Judge Ana said that she would have awarded that score had Janet ridden at any USEA/USDF Dressage class anywhere in America or Latin America, where she is frequently a Judge!

If you signed up for the February Derby you have a $25 discount towards our March HT.
We look forward to seeing you March 21, for Cross Country Schooling and RAT and on Sunday 22, for the Horse Trials!
If time permits we are willing to run Dressage Only. Preference will be given to those riding the Horse Trials.
Let us pray for good weather at the weekends during the Event season!

Go to our Events and Scores page for Entry Form and Release. Please send to Kathi Roof by March 14 to avoid LATE FEE! In order to serve you better entries will not be taken after Wednesday 18! Times will be posted on Friday 20th.
